Only independents can restore pride

Sir -In response to Mr Platt not standing for next election. you claim you support New Labour, are you proud of the mess they left us in after years following Tory policies.

Let's not forget Cllr Robinson (Maltby's New Labour candidate) lost his council seat firstly to the BNP and then lost to a Tory in Maltby.

My grandma would turn in her grave to think a Tory has gained a seat in Maltby.

We can make excuses for the BNP getting in, with the free movement of European Labour having a detrimental affect on all our lives.

The euros have undercut the British worker and ripped up union agreements in every sector, but to lose to a Tory in a mining village ravaged by Thatcher's policies is a little hard to take.

Lets face it, Hellaby is nothing more than an estate in Maltby and the half that voted Tory are ten bob millionaires with (two cars on drive and nothing in the cupboards). Well I hope you get what you voted for.

As for you Mr Platt, I suggest you stand, because the new Labour candidate hasnt got a chance of removing the BNP from Maltby so it is left to independents like me to restore Maltby's pride, get rid of facists who will isolate Maltby from the rest of RMBC, because no one will support racist parties or their policies.

Tommy James's (antifacist) work isnt finished yet and I will take up the challange to see that it is.
