Nothing stops Rotherham’s Coffee Morning

The countdown to Coffee Morning – Macmillan Cancer Support’s flagship annual event to raise money to fund vital support for people living with cancer – has officially started.

This year we’re celebrating its 30th birthday, Macmillan Coffee Morning has traditionally seen hundreds of people across Rotherham tuck into cakes and enjoy a cuppa with pals, neighbours and strangers.

Things are going to look a lot different this year due to Covid-19.  We might not be allowed to pack into houses, village halls or community centres in the same way but there are lots of different ways to get involved in Coffee Morning whenever, wherever and in whatever way you can.

Whether you host a socially distanced event at home or in the park, in the morning or evening, bake a showstopper or buy one of the limited edition products from our partner Marks & Spencer – the money you raise will enable Macmillan to continue providing these vital services.

Like our three Macmillan Cancer Workers working with the urology, breast and colorectal cancer teams at Rotherham Hospital, our Macmillan Information and Support Centre at the hospital and the many other fabulous professionals supporting local people.

Before Covid-19, many patients told us that being diagnosed with cancer and going through treatment was the scariest thing that they could imagine.

These anxieties and concerns have not gone away during the pandemic – they’ve been made worse – meaning Macmillan needs support from you more than ever before.

Every 90 seconds someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer and Macmillan has continued to provide vital emotional, financial or clinical support for people living with cancer throughout the pandemic.

Demand for our cancer support services is greater than ever, but, due to coronavirus, we are facing a significant drop in our income. The truth is that we can’t continue to be there for all the people who need us in Rotherham without your support.

Your donations are vital to enable us to continue to be there for people living with cancer.
