My flight ban nightmare is over

Well it’s been quite a week for me this week and if you want to lose weight quickly I can recommend the “have your partner stranded abroad by the volcanic ash flight ban” diet.

Fortunately, he is now back in the UK and on the M1 north after being stranded in America for five nights.

Now I know there are worse places to be stranded and five nights in the grand scheme of things isn’t that long, but until last night we still had no idea when he was going to be able to get home.

With the wedding fund flashing before my eyes, I really had started to panic about the cost of the unplanned extension and with other airlines bumping up their prices, we had to sit and wait for the next available seat on a Virgin plane.

Anyway, the boy is on his way home and the nightmare for us is over. But I can’t even begin to think about the knock-on effect that this unprecedented event has had on individuals, businesses and families across the world.

I will be celebrating this evening with a fish and chip supper so any calories I burned worrying about his safe return, will go straight back on my hips tonight.

Well you’ve got to have some treats haven’t you and I must admit, while I’ve been struggling to eat my tea, a did have a mid-week comfort muffin to ease the nerves (sorry Jayne).

I am looking forward to a weekend of nice weather and getting in the garden so I’ll have to make sure that I get some cardio done to get firmly back on track.

Tip of the week? For all you BBQ lovers try quorn sausages. Half the calories but just as tasty if you ask me.
