LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Rotherham Council rub salt in wounds

IN such serious times as these we can always rely on RMBC to lighten up the mood with their comedy antics.

Laugh — at the council depot. Planning permission for which was applied for by RMBC, to RMBC, for RMBC to build a depot including the salt barn (So basically the council is applying to the council for planning permission granted by the council for a council depot — nothing even slightly dodgy there).

The hideous salt barn, an eyesore of a building which broke regulations regarding the height of the building, to which, as part of the planning permission a mature tree plantation was to be planted to hide the salt barn, but obviously RMBC are hoping the spring daffodils might grow high enough.

Chortle — at the new factory being built on brown belt land on Cumwell Lane. A mega factory operating 24/7 spilling out noise and air pollution plus traffic congestion.

A factory being better served attached to the truck stop, with a designated sliproad at the far end of the industrial estate removing a massive amount of HGV traffic. Planning permission granted despite fierce local opposition.

Guffaw — at RMBC decision to make a bus lane running from Addison Road to the M18 roundabout. Think of all the laughing spending an extra hour on your morning commute getting from Maltby to Hellaby, all courtesy of your caring loving RMBC.

You could write a song about It all — “where are the clowns? Send in the clowns, don't bother, they’re already here.”
