LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Pure hypocrisy

THE people who bought a shedload of Palestine flags in the hope of flogging them to a few gullibles must be disappointed.

They are probably sitting there now wondering what to do with their warehouses full of them. A bit like those who bought up bottles of hand sanitiser or boxes of masks in the hope of making a quick quid or two out of someone else’s misfortune.

Everywhere you go there’s a Ukraine flag flying, probably hung there by someone who didn’t even know where the country was until a few weeks ago.

There is always someone taking advantage of whatever disaster has befallen a part of the world they know nothing about or people they don’t know.

I’m not having a go at those displaying them, they are doing it for the right reasons, but there are other injustices in the world they could be highlighting.

Just because the media has decided this is the war they want to show, doesn’t mean there aren’t others going on, some of which we have played a very large part in and are happy to see continue as, just like those selling the flags, it might make our country a few pounds we couldn’t afford to lose by voicing any serious opposition.

It’s called hypocrisy and this country is very good at it.
