LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Burglary figures no surprise

THE front page story about police not solving burglaries certainly didn’t come as a shock to me.

Fortunately I have never been burgled but my neighbour has and so has my daughter and her husband.

Both returned home to find their houses had been ransacked, called the police and received the relevant advise on what to report regarding what had been stolen etc. Then... nothing.

Actually, that’s not true. My daughter did receive a visit with a bit of a promise that they would look into it, got the crime number etc and then that was it.

There wasn’t even a call to ask how they were getting on or to inform them of any progress in what was obviously, as we now know, a non-investigation.
