LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Beauty destroyed

IN my humble opinion, Herringthorpe Valley Road is the most beautiful road in Rotherham.

At night, the Linden tree foliage is awesome when backed by the street lighting, especially in the springtime.

Recently, in the daytime the wide verges were beautiful with different grasses waving in the breeze accompanied by swathes of wildflowers such as buttercups and dandelions.

They were a godsend to bees and butterflies looking for food. However, this was not to last!

Along came the council gangmowers which reduced all this beauty to a boring monotony of level dead grass.

So much for helping your local wildlife!

Surely we can do better in this age of “look after the planet”.
