LETTER TO THE EDITOR: A fourth class place

DONCASTER is a city now, apparently! What did Rotherham get to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee? Nothing! (I realise Rotherham did not apply for “city status” but this not the point).

We are a fourth class place (even Barnsley is doing better than us).

We have a Sheffield Postcode and our buses say “Sheffield” or “Doncaster” on the side.

The council is weak and unambitious and we are about to lose out on any “South Yorkshire” funding as Sheffield and the “city” of Doncaster will attract all the investment.

Disappointed and despairing,
