I need to leave Rotherham!

AS a long suffering Wickersley resident who enjoys cycling a lot and has to drive his car up and down Morthen Road I was “overjoyed” to see that our Highway Department has struck the second of two massive own goals in a week.

First was the burning up of the cycle lane markings down the western side of East Bawtry Road from Tescos down to the next roundabout.

Second I see a sign saying that they are going to replace the worn out carriageway opposite Morrisons. Where is it worn out?

To put it mildly our Highways department are demonstrating a degree of incompetence second only to their Brothers in Eastern Europe that we saw during the Euro 2012 Football tournament. I know that as a unrecalcitrant post WWII left wing socialist council they have made some weird decisions recently, but could the non-repair of Morthen Road be a way of getting back at the locals who decided to rebel during the Parish Council fiasco a while ago?

They are showing the same degree of intelligence that Sheffield Council showed when in the 70s they warned voters that anyone who voted Tory would not have their bins emptied.

PS: they have however gone one better than Newham Council. At least RMBC demolished the council offices before they found out that they ca’'t afford the new ones.

Yours hoping the housing market picks up ASAP so I can leave after 20 years
