Cllr Kirk has best interests of Maltby at heart

Sir--In response to 'Councillor's ego trip' (Advertiser, February 4) I think certain facts ought to have been verified by Chris Olsan before making such a statement.

It was in fact Cllr Slade and not Cllr Kirk who was suspended from office for misconduct.

Incidentally, he is now chair by default as the current chair apparently feels it is not part of her duties to attend meetings.

Cllr Kirk was not in fact a member of the 'committee 'which unlawfully suspended the previous clerk to the council.

Cllr Kirk in my experience has nothing but the best interests of the people of Maltby at heart.

It strikes me that some of the so called 'Iindependent' councillors take a leaf out his book and do some good for the people of Maltby instead of rehashing old ground and resorting to petty bickering.

Perhaps that way the people of Maltby will have the local council they deserve.
