Chance of savings missed

We have been asked to take a pay cut and a freeze in wages for two years which, in the economic climate, I do not mind,,as as the council says we have to "tighten our belts".

What I do mind, is in my line of work, which is within an educational establishment, it is the time of year for looking at the budget and saving money.

We have had tenders put out and in some areas saved money. but the one area where we could have saved significantly, we wanted to go for the lowest quote and jobs would be safe.

But no, our current contractors have made it near impossible to take up this offer, so we have had to go again with them.

The contractor is a part of Rotherham Borough Council -- so much for all pulling together through their arrogance we have had to lose out on making a significant saving in our budget.

Talk about double standards!
