Big success for Jeremy's favourite charity

Sir—A very successful evening was held at the Carlton Park on Saturday last, when The Jeremy Beadle Morthyng Memorial Trust held its annual quiz party hosted by George Layton.

I would like to thank everyone who came along to take part and give so generously.

I would also like to thank our sponsors, prize donators, helpers and the hotel for their kindness and generosity.

Special thanks go to Harry Rogers,Tony McHale (great friends of Jeremy) and Sue, Jeremy’s widow, who all travelled from London to make the event special.

Over the years Jeremy raised millions of pounds nationally for charity. It is perhaps

less well known that he had a special love for Rotherham and during his lifetime raised in excess of £70,000 for local charities.

To my knowledge The Jeremy Beadle Morthyng Memorial Foundation is the only charity that has been founded in his name and it is a testimony to his memory that it is based in his favorite northern town—Rotherham.

I’m sure that on Saturday Jeremy was looking down on us appreciating the fact that money was being raised for a good cause by people having a good time.
