AS a volunteer medi-car driver for the South Yorkshire Ambulance service, over the ten years I heard many tales from ex-steelworkers and miners, but the one that sticks in my mind was from a gentleman who was an engineer at the NCB’s facility at Fence near Sheffield.

MY husband recently was taken to Rotherham District hospital as an emergency patient. From his admittance through A&E and B5 eventually onto HDU, I must say the treatment was second to none.
