Chamber’s awards set to be revealed

TOP businesses, charities and long-running firms will all be recognised at a glittering event next week.

Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber has shortlisted 40 companies for it 2022 Celebration of Business next Friday.

There are eight awards up for grabs, including for customer service, entrepreneurship and community impact, and a prize for the “charity of the year”.

Individual winners will be named in the apprentice and business person of the year categories and there will be Salute to Business honours for long-established traders.

Charlotte Palmer of Wath-based Clear Quality, Corrosion Resistant Materials’ Jack Craven and Broom teenager Aneeka Zarar, of Westgate company Yorkshire Accommodation Bureau are all in the running to be named best apprentice.

Corrosion Resistant Materials could also have a winner in the business person of the year section, with director Adam Bradley in the hunt.

Rebecca Broadhead of Templeborough’s Electrical Safety UK and Gareth Hickling, of Rotherham’s KCM Waste Management, will also be nervously awaiting the results.

Rotherham RISE and Rush House are shortlisted in the charity category.

Chamber chief executive Andrew Denniff said: “Our Celebration of Business is one of the highlights of the Chamber’s calendar year.

“It offers a chance for businesses to come together to celebrate the achievements of some of those companies and individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty during the past 12 months, but it also offers an opportunity to come together, make new connections and rekindle older ones.”
