Burlesque meets business for Magna networking event and show

THE worlds of burlesque and business collide for a first-of-its-kind event heading to Magna.

Organisers say the aim is for companies to learn from business speakers and the creativity of cabaret.

Reclaimed Means Business producers Lindsay McGlone and Tommy Powell are involved with both online business and burlesque, so decided to bring the two worlds together.

Lindsay said: “I was fed up of feeling like I couldn't fit into the business world, feeling like I was too common, too northern, too queer. I decided it was time to create an event where the two worlds can learn from each other.

“Having a business has changed my life, from full-time employment to in just 18 months quitting my job and producing events on a huge scale.

“We don’t do boring. People from outside this space feel that business is a boring word, but it shouldn’t be. It’s exciting, creative and life-changing.

'We are honoured that Queer Business Club are sponsoring Reclaimed Means Business, it is important that queer people have a space in business where they feel accepted and heard and that is exactly what Queer Business Club do, alongside creating an incredible community.”

The event takes place on Thursday, October 10, with speakers for the day from the business, burlesque and cabaret scenes, before an evening burlesque and cabaret show.
