Appeal to convert former sports bar into apartments dismissed

APPLICANTS aiming to convert a former sports bar into apartments have seen an appeal against Rotherham Council turned down.

Lexgreen Services had maintained that the changes proposed for Cafe Sport, Swinton, would be covered by permitted development, therefore not requiring  permission.

Rotherham Council did not accept this position and the matter went before the Planning Inspectorate, which dismissed the appeal.

Inspector J Symmons said: “It has not been demonstrated that it would provide adequate natural light in all rooms.

“As such the proposal would not be permitted development.”
