Weather warning issued as heatwave expected to end with a bang

THUNDERSTORMS are expected to hit parts of Rotherham tomorrow with the heatwave expected to end with a bang.

Temperatures could reach 28C on Wednesday but bouts of heavy rain will move in from the west and “extensive thunderstorms” may break out late Wednesday afternoon and into the night.

The Met Office has issued a yelllow ‘be aware’ warning and said torrential downpours, frequent lightning and a chance of hail could lead to disruption, including “sudden flooding of transport routes, homes and businesses”.

A spokesman added: “Frequent lightning in association with the heaviest rain may also temporarily disrupt power supplies.”

The warning is valid from 3am on Wednesday until 6am on Thursday.
