Town centre police cordon in place after man presents gunshot injuries at hospital

A MAN was in hospital this mornning after a town centre shooting incident near the Wellgate area.

The man attended hospital at 8.30pm last night with suspected gunshot injuries, police said, after a shooting in the Whybourne Grove area. 

His injuries are not thought to be serious or life-threatening, a spokesperson said.

A police cordon was still in place this morning, blocking access to Whybourne Grove between Narrow Twitchell and Mansfield Road.

The spokesperson said: “An investigation is underway and anyone who holds information about what happened is asked to contact police using live chat, online portal or by calling 101 quoting incident number 907 of February 23 2023.”
