ROTHERHAM United Women manager Pete Jarvis launched a final call for prospective players to sign up for trials after hailing the calibre of talent he’s seen so far this summer as “terrific”.

Sixty hopefuls have signed up to try out for Millers, and two sessions have been held so far at Herringthorpe Stadium, with a third at the same venue from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, June 25.

Jarvis said the level of interest was “amazing”, adding: “I think it's probably about three times the number that we had this time last season.

“I think it’s probably about three times the number that we had this time last season.

“That shows how the profile of the club has certainly developed significantly over the past 12 months or so and with that, the calibre of players has also been terrific.

“It certainly gives us some very difficult decisions to make over the next few weeks but they are good decisions to have to make and it will give us really good competition for places.”

The remaining trial session is open to all-comers and Jarvis said the club offered a combination of quality coaching and strong team spirit.

“The players are a great bunch, a really close knit group,” he said.

“Even those who were not playing at times during last season were knuckling down and working really hard.

“We’re setting up the reserve team as well this season, which I think will be a good addition for us.

“The facilities where we train at Sheffield Hallam Sports Park are fantastic, and we offer UEFA A licence coaching, fitness coaching and physiotherapy.

“We’re becoming quite well-established and think we have a really good offer to players.”

Would-be trialists of all abilities are encouraged to register in advance for Sunday’s session at tinyurl.com/RUWFCtrials although you can just turn up on the day.
