‘Prolific’ teenage burglar in youth court after arrest

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested and charged in connection with multiple burglaries in Rotherham and Sheffield.

 

Following his arrest, the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons and who police described as “prolific”, is reported to have assaulted a police officer while in custody. 

He has been charged with six counts of burglary plus handling stolen goods, conspiracy to burgle, criminal damage and assaulting an emergency service worker.

The boy’s charges relate to burglaries reported across Sheffield and Rotherham, and the handling of a BMW believed to be stolen from the city.

 

While in custody he is reported to have assaulted a police officer and was subsequently charged in relation to the offence.

 

He appeared before Sheffield Youth Court today and has been remanded into custody until his next appearance on April 19.
