Probe into Great Houghton baby death continues

ENQUIRIES into the "suspicious" death of a nine-week-old baby in Great Houghton are continuing, police said.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and bailed after the infant boy’s death in hospital on Monday, December 3.

Paramedics had been called to a house three days earlier, when the baby was in cardiac arrest.

A post-mortem led officers to consider the baby’s death "suspicious".

The victim has been formally identified, but police have not revealed his name, at the request of his family.

Det Insp Mark Oughton said: “This is of course an extremely sensitive case that has understandably provoked emotion and had an impact within the local community.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to reiterate the importance of people being mindful of comments they are making on social media platforms."
