Nine fire engines needed to tackle three-hour blaze at industrial unit in Aldwarke

FIRE crews spent three hours tackling a blaze - thought to have started accidentally - at an industrial unit in Aldwarke today.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze had been “putting out a lot of smoke” this morning and advised people living near the unit, on Waddington Way, to keep windows and doors closed. 

The fire was reported at 10.15am today and crews were at the scene until 1.30pm.

A SYFR spokesperson said: “At its height, we had nine fire engines and a turntable ladder in attendance — the large numbers were sent to get it extinguished as soon as possible.” 

The blaze was thought to have been started accidentally, they added.
