Kimberworth house sealed off over "danger to public health"

A TERRACED house in Kimberworth has been slapped with a closure order after being branded “a danger to public health”.

The property on Wortley Road has been boarded up and a formal closure order taped to the metal panel over the front door.

A police squad car and crime scene investigation van were stationed outside the house last Thursday.

The closure order states that Rotherham Council is satisfied “Category 1 hazards exist on the premises, which involves an imminent risk of serious harm to the health and safety of any of the occupants”.

It bars use of the house for “human habitation” and notes the building was “not effectively secured against unauthorised entry and is a danger to public health”.
