HEROIN and crack cocaine worth £3,000 and four suspected drug dealers were arrested as part of a day of action in Rotherham dubbed Operation Duxford.

During yesterday's crackdown five warrants were also executed, illicit cigarettes uncovered and stolen property found during the multi-agency operation, which also targeted child criminal exploitation.

Operation lead, Chief Insp Alan McFarlane said: “We had a busy but successful day making a total of 11 arrests, four of which were in relation to the organised distribution of class A controlled drugs for which enquiries will be ongoing.”

The four Sheffield men - aged 20, 23, 29 and 56 - were arrested for possession with intent to supply class A drugs after officers stopped and seized a suspect vehicle travelling into Rotherham from Sheffield.

Five warrants were executed at properties across Sheffield and Rotherham, which led to the recovery of further class A drugs.

A large amount of illicit tobacco was also seized following a warrant executed alongside Trading Standards in Dinnington.

During follow up enquiries in the Meadowbank area, officers conducted two more searches, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old man for immigration offences.

In other activity, a 17-year-old boy was arrested alongside an 18 and 19-year-old man from the Sheffield area for possession with intent to supply cannabis

A 39-year-old Rotherham man was arrested for recall to prison and a 29-year-old Rotherham man was arrested for burglary

A 27-year-old woman from Rotherham was also arrested for assaulting a police constable.
