ROUTINE extended access appointments with GPs are available in Rotherham over the bank holiday weekend, and a number of pharmacies will also be open.

A spokesman for the Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said the extended access appointments, which will take place over the phone due to Covid-19, will be open to patients on the bank holiday Friday as well as weekends, in place of usual GP practices

"These pre-booked appointments allow you to get advice and support from a local clinician when your own GP practice is closed," added the spokesman.

"These appointments will take place on the telephone due to the current coronavirus outbreak. To book an extended access appointment, please contact reception at your own practice before Friday, May 8.

"Routine extended access appointments are also available every Saturday and Sunday."

The spokesman added that if you are ill and need to speak to a clinician over the bank holiday weekend after today, you should call NHS 111, who can provide advice or arrange for an appointment with the out of hours GP service, if necessary.

Many community pharmacies will be open on Friday. To find out when and where pharmacies are open in Rotherham this weekend, visit: http://www.rotherhamccg.nhs.uk/pharmacy.htm
