THE majority of Covid-19 vaccination sites in Rotherham remain open today despite the snow — but health officials have told people not to worry if they cannot attend.

The vaccination service sites at Rawmarsh Practice, St. Ann’s Leisure Centre, and Anston Medical Centre are open today as planned, said a spokesperson for the Rotherham NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Rotherham Council confirmed the Covid-19 test sites at Midland Road, Dinnington Resource Centre, and Maltby Leisure Centre are open — but Forge Island test centre remains closed.

A CCG spokesperson said: "We are doing our best to keep the sites clear of snow. If you have an appointment and are able to get to your allocating site safely, please still attend," added the spokesperson.

"Don’t worry if you are delayed due to the weather if you arrive later than your appointment time we will ensure you still receive your vaccine. Please take care whilst attending."

The CCG urged people not to worry if they could not make their appointment today — adding: "You do not need to ring us to cancel, we have a full list of patients who are due to attend and will be making direct contact with those who can't make it today, as soon as possible.

"You will not miss out on the opportunity to have the Covid-19 vaccine, don't worry."

The CCG urged people not to turn up without a pre-arranged appointment.

The mass vaccination site at Sheffield Arena is also open today as normal — but people are advised not to attend if they don't feel safe to do so.

A spokesperson for the arena site added: "If you are unable to come for your appointment you do not need to call the hospitals or arena, we will call you to rebook your appointment over the coming days."
