Busy night for Rotherham fire station as arsonists strike three times in borough

FIRE crews spent over an hour tackling three blazes that were deliberately started overnight in the borough.

Three fire crews from Rotherham, Edlington and Maltby stations first attended a deliberate fire in an outhouse at 10.45pm on Main Street, Mexborough, coming away at 11.20pm.

Just five minutes later a crew from Rotherham station had to spend half an hour tackling a deliberate rubbish fire which had spread to fencing and a tree at 11.25pm on The Maltings, Canklow.

Firefighters from Rotherham station later dealt with a wheelie bin which was deliberately set on fire at 12.10am on Gray Avenue, Swallownest.
