65-year-old woman dies from serious head injuries just three days before Christmas

The accident in Wentworth happened when a waste transfer lorry’s rear door opened while it was moving and hit the woman.

A 65-year-old woman died from serious head injuries last Thursday, having been involved in a collision with a lorry on Main Street, Wentworth nine days earlier on December 13.

Another pedestrian, a 69-year-old man, suffered head injuries which were not life threatening, police said.

A spokesperson said: “While investigations have been ongoing, officers are making a fresh appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage or saw the HGV prior to the incident to get in touch, as officers continue to work to establish the circumstances.
