Young Hunter living life in the fast lane

A MOTORBIKE speed wiz is getting a taste for life in the fast lane — and his parents hope he could become a future world champion.

Hunter Booth (4) has been obsessed with motocross, a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits, since he began to walk at just eight months old, according to his mum Danielle.

The Dalton youngster has a “need for speed” and is already competing alongside other four-year-olds and showcases his skills on TikTok to over 45,000 followers.

“He’s loved motorbikes ever since he could pull himself up on to things — especially if it had wheels,” said Danielle.

“All his toys were bikes when he was a baby.

“He watches motorbike racing on YouTube all the time and says he will ‘be like them one day’ and win trophies.

“For his first birthday, we got him a balance bike and he’s moved on to motorbikes since because his balance was amazing.

“Before he turned two, he could stand up and use his balance to keep the bike moving.

“Bikes are all he’s wanted to know and talk about ever since.”

Danielle said her son was usually quite reserved child but when it comes to bikes, he is “completely different”.

She said: “He’s always been a shy child at school where he will  stay at the back of the class and is very quiet.

“But once he’s on the bike, he says I will ‘smoke them’ or beat his competitors.

“He seems so comfortable and confident when riding.

“It’s very emotional to see a child come out of his shell and blossom.

“I think the experience of riding has helped him become stronger, too, because he broke his arm but was quickly determined to return to the track.

“The sky’s the limit for him if he continues to work hard and if he maintains his enthusiasm for the sport.

“My son has such a kind heart and I believe he races to make me and his dad smile.”

Hunter now has hopes of winning his first trophy this year when he competes in the Lucas Oil Motocross Championships.

Danielle said: “He’s become very accomplished in the sport and he could really make the grade one day with the financial backing that will take him to the very top.

“The main problem is that equipment is expensive: boots alone cost £120 and bikes can cost around £1,300.

“To take this further, we need help in making Hunter’s dreams come true to compete in competitions, buy equipment and upgrade his motorbike.”
