Women are better are counting the pennies this Christmas

WE all knew it really . . . women are better with money than men.

At least that’s what research by the Tesco Bank shows.

According to the bank:

60 per cent of women will be using money-off and discount vouchers to save money.

32 per cent of women use credit card points and rewards to pay for presents.

24 per cent of women will recycle unwanted gifts from previous years.

Not only that, nearly half of women (46 per cent) will definitely be looking for ways to save money this Christmas, compared to 32 per cent of men.

In general, Brits are carefully evaluating what they spend this Christmas, with one in four (24 per cent) claiming they will definitely stick to their Christmas budget.

However, it is the nation's women who appear to be more strategic when spending, with over half (55 per cent) of women sensibly admitting to spreading the cost of Christmas by buying a few presents every week, compared to just 32 per cent of men.

Furthermore, women are proving to be more resourceful when thinking about Christmas gifts, one in four (24 per cent) claim they will be recycling unwanted gifts from previous years, compared to only 16 per cent of men. Women are also more likely, than men, to have agreed a specific budget with family and friends for Christmas presents, 28 per cent and 18 per cent respectively.

David McCreadie, managing director, Banking at Tesco Bank, said:

"Our research reveals that women are more financially savvy when it comes to finding ways of making their money go further this Christmas, increasingly looking to reward schemes and discount offers to help pay for Christmas presents.”

Funnily enough, he adds: "The Tesco Clubcard Credit Card rewards customers with Clubcard points on whatever they buy, wherever they buy it.  The card also offers new customers 0% on purchases for 15 months - making it a great way to earn and spend this Christmas."

So there you are. You’ll be in debt, but at least the stuff you buy on credit will be cheaper!
