WENTWORTH WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The February meeting was held on March 10. Attention was again drawn to the production of Canary Girls to be performed by the Mikron Theatre Company on April 26 at the Emmanuel Church, Huddersfield Road, Barnsley. “Appropriate care in hospitals for people with dementia” was the resolution most voted for across the Rockley Group and this will be discussed at the Annual Meeting later in the month. The commemorative seat has been ordered and it is hoped to be in place in Elsecar Park by June. The speaker was John Mumford who gave a talk on Wills, Family Trusts, etc. The competition was a legal document. The winners were Gwen Shakespeare (1st), Ann Lambert (2nd), Carol King (3rd). Meetings are usually on the second Thursday in each month. The list of events is dotted around the village. Charge £3 for visitors. The WI meets in the Mechanics Institute (Village Hall) opposite the main car park in the village 7.30pm.
