REFUGEE CRISIS: Townsfolk are being encouraged to help refugees financially by giving to Christian Aid. Retiring collections are taking place at St Mary’s Parish Church throughout September. Practical items such as clothing, shoes, pots and pans, tents, tarpaulins and toiletries are being donated and gathered together at collection points at St Mary’s Parish Church, St Mary’s Church of England Primary School and Estfeld Primary School. The Church of England has published a special prayer for the refugee crisis.

 

ANNUAL FLU JABS: Townsfolk eligible for a free annual flu injection can book an appointment at Tickhill Surgery. Patients can arrange to go along to the St Mary’s Road practice on October 3 9am-noon or the Harworth Colliery practice on October 9 and October 16 9am-noon. All vaccinations by appointment only. More details from reception staff at the surgeries.

FUNDS RAISED: The Tickhill branch of the Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association’s Strawberry Special event raised £436 for the Scanner Appeal and Radiotherapy department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

 

NEEDY HELPED: Churchgoers at St Mary’s Parish Church donated 59.8kg (131.6lb) of goods at the collection for the Doncaster Food Bank during August. The items will be distributed by the Trussell Trust UK.
