CHURCH SERVICES: The times and locations of Sunday services are – 1st and 2nd Sundays 10am at St Peter’s Church; 3rd and 4th Sundays 10am at St Leonard’s Church; 5th Sundays usually at St Leonard’s unless a change is notified in the newsletter.

 

ST GERARD’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL: A letter from the minister – in the Hall of Fame there is a letter from MP Nick Gibb, the minister of state for schools, who wrote to explain that St Gerard’s School is amongst the 100 top performing schools based on sustained improvement from 2012-15. Epiphany Mass – four members of the school councillors and a member of staff visited St Mary’s, Herringthorpe to celebrate Mass for the feast of the Epiphany. Physical activity and healthy lifestyles – this term the school has an opportunity to work in partnership with the Health and Fitness team from St Ann’s Leisure Centre to teach children along with their parents/carers about exercise, health and nutrition. St Gerard’s will be the first school in Rotherham to pilot this scheme. Teaching assistant swap – for the next few weeks Mrs Ellsion will be working at St Bede’s and in return Mrs Hannah Hart will be working at St Gerard’s School. Friends of St Gerard’s – On February 19 the Friends of St Gerard’s will host a race night at Dalton Parish Hall. Tickets £10 each which will include a pie and pea supper. This will be an adults only event. Birthdays – Brett Hickman, William Heeley. Golden Stars – Luke Jacobs, Lydia Mather, Arthur Demartino, Olivia Day, Nanndre Gounegbou. After school clubs – there have been slight adjustments to the after school clubs this term. The days and times are Monday football 3.15-4.15pm, Health, Nutrition  and Fitness (begins February 15) 3.15-4.30pm; Tuesday choir 3.15-4.15pm; Wednesday Reading Circle 3.15-4.15pm; Thursday Y6 SPAG Club (begins February 21) 3.15-4.15pm. Diary dates – January 18 Health, Fitness and Nutrition Assembly 2.30pm; January 20 Mission Together Assembly; February 10 Ash Wednesday; February 5 break up for half term; February 17 Class 1 farm visit; February 19 Friends of St Gerard’s Race Night; March 21 start of Holy Week.
