THORPE HESLEY VILLAGE CHOIR: Meeting every Wednesday in school term-time from 7-9pm at The Trinity Centre, located adjacent to Holy Trinity Church, Sough Hall Avenue, Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham. Adults of all ages welcome.

 

LOCAL HISTORY GROUP: The speaker about the break-up of the monasteries and religious guilds in the 1600s at the February 17 meeting was Tony Grice. Tony is himself a former greave and a present feoffee of Rotherham. The feoffees were born from the breakdown of social care following the abolition of the monasteries, guilds etc in the 1500s. The next meeting is on March 16 when Mel Jones will talk on the archaelogical sites in Thorpe Hesley.
