ROSEHILL JUNIOR SCHOOL: Classes 6M and 4E will hold their Meet the Teacher sessions on November 9 4-5.30 pm and November 11 5.30-7pm.

 

ASHWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL: Planned parent engagement activities will include – for Y6 mineshafts with working pulleys on November 10 9-10.30am and for Y5 on November 11 at the same time. This is work linked to design technology, geography, history and the children’s current topic Underground. Parents/carers will be invited to join their children in these learning activities. There is more planned for December. Reply slips have been sent home which need to be returned. Contact 01709 710847.

THE HIGH STREET CENTRE: Beginning on November 5 there will be a new session which will run weekly for four weeks called Planning Play Activities with Children. It will run 11am-1pm, booking essential. Starting on November 6 there will be a new drop-in and job support session 10am-noon. There is no need to book. It will run until Christmas. 9TH ROTHERHAM SCOUT GROUP: At the last meeting beavers made masks of witches and Frankenstein monsters. Then they made decorated biscuits with icing sugar, marshmallows and liquorice laces to make spiders. Beavers were presented with their Air Activities and Explorer awards. The Beaver of the Week was Matthew Boardman. The beavers section received its new Christmas Appeal badge as fund raiser for scouting. The cubs completed their Pioneering, Local History and My Faith awards together with their Air Activities Stage One following the recent trip to Elvington Air Museum. They were also writing prayers. The scouts have been designing and cutting shapes into individual pumpkins. They were also finalising their trip to Austerfield Astronomy Centre. There will be no meetings of the whole group on November 5. For the Remembrance Parade on November 8, everyone is asked to meet at the British Legion hut on Rockcliffe Road in full uniform and wearing a poppy 9.30am. Tickets are on sale for the Indoor Camp Fire on November 12.

 

RAWMARSH TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD: Members recently held their 24th birthday celebrations at The High Street Centre. They provided their own entertainment and lunch was held at The Consort Suite, Thurcroft. A representative from the Northern General’s Helipad Appeal spoke about the work they do and a cheque for £400 was presented by the ladies. Members are now collecting gifts for the Federation coffee morning on November 11 at Silverwood Miners’ Welfare Hall, Rotherham. All proceeds to charity. The group meets on the second Thursday in every month in The High Street Centre, Rawmarsh 10am.
