SURGERY TIMES: Cllr John Turner, who represents the Hellaby ward on Rotherham Council, holds a surgery at Brooklands Club on Rotherham Road, Maltby, on the fourth Tuesday of each month 5.30-6.30pm.

MALTBY TOWN COUNCIL GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE: The meeting on August 13 was attended by eight councillors and town clerk Mrs Kate Butler. It was resolved that the clerk contact Dignity and RMBC regarding the overhanging branches on Grange Lane and within the cemetery over gravestones. The clerk was asked to speak to the manager of the Queens pub to enquire if litter posters can be displayed within the premises and if the Queens would provide litter bins outside. It was also resolved that the clerk sends letters to all shops on High Street requesting that they help with the litter problem and provide their own bins outside their shops. The clerk updated the meeting that the cenotaph was now clear from weeds and the benches had been restained. It was resolved that the clerk brings the amended policy for the conditions of hire/free let policy of the Edward Dunn Memorial Hall to the next meeting for approval. It was agreed that the clerk forwards the food safety information to the correct department at RMBC and arranges an inspection of the kitchen within the main hall. It was resolved that the clerk writes a letter to all the pigeon loft holders regarding some urinating publically within the field and some owners not tending their plots. It was resolved that the Community Skip Day is held in the October half-term. It was resolved that the clerk promotes the snow warden scheme on Maltby Town Council’s Facebook page. It was agreed that the clerk contacts RMBC and rents a garage on Addison Road and Millicent Square to house grit, snow shovels and hand-held gritters. Discussion took place concerning the parking problems on Walters Road. It was resolved that the clerk contacts Marc Hill, RMBC highways officer, regarding these issues.

 

MALTBY COMMUNITY BOWLING CLUB RESULTS: Week commencing September 7 – Monday singles: Maltby CBC(A) v LNER won 6-2, Maltby CBC(B) v Wickersley CIB won 6-2; Wednesday doubles: Maltby CBC(A) v Wickersley CIB lost 2-6, Maltby CBC(B) v LNER won 8-0; Friday night doubles: Maltby CBC v Spartans drew 5-5.

 

BEVAN CRESCENT COMMUNITY GROUP: On Thursday, the Over 60s/ AGE UK Rotherham group had their meeting in the centre. On Friday, the group visited the LIFEWISE Centre in Hellaby. The first prize in the raffle at LIFEWISE was a table on wheels and was won by Mrs Audrey Richards. Coffee mornings continue to take place every Tuesday morning.
