SCROOBY STREET ALLOTMENT SOCIETY: Pumpkin competition results – winner Ron Lunn 64.75lbs, 2 T Jackson 62.25lbs, smallest C Spriggs 2oz. There were nine entries. Next year there will be a scarecrow competition in the Summer as well as a pumpkin contest in Autumn. Anyone interested in renting an allotment should call at the allotments on a Sunday morning 11am-1pm and ask for Ron.

 

GREASBROUGH COMMUNITY HISTORY SOCIETY: The society has staged a display of remembrance at the Greasbrough Community Memorial Garden at Greasbrough Library. The Greasbrough Community Memorial Garden was opened in April and to coincide with Remembrance Sunday the display of remembrance has been created. Graham Hobson, secretary of Greasbrough Community History Society, said: “GCHS were keen to mark Remembrance Sunday at the Memorial Garden, and what better way to do this than create a display of remembrance.” The display, which opened on Monday, features over 52 images and 222 names of Greasbrough people who participated in World War One and World War Two. The display of remembrance will run into November.
