PARISH COUNCIL: The next meeting is on June 1 in the Memorial Hall meeting room starting with the public session at 6:30 pm.

AREA ASSEMBLY: The latest meeting was held at the Memorial Hall. Introductions were made to new and returning borough councillors and recently transferred Inspector Steve Fennell from Rotherham South LPT.  Residents raised an ASB concern on Old School Lane and the ongoing traffic problems on Sheffield Lane.

MEMORIAL HALL: The hall is now temporarily unavailable for further bookings and was closed for use on May 31 in lieu of the proposed refurbishment. Certain pre-booked events may take place providing H&S requirements can be met. See www.catcliffeparishcouncil.com for details or contact the parish clerk on 07985 327377 or [email protected]

CATCLIFFE SCHOOL: Ladybirds, African drumming, bread making and the creation of a Stone Age cave were features of the week. Yet again the week's attendance winners were Y6 and no late arrivals and only one class failed to reach the national average. For full details of all class and school activities see www.catcliffeschool.org.uk and Facebook and Twitter feeds. Tel: 01709 828598.

FRIENDS OF CATCLIFFE:  Members of the group presented the proceeds of their recent beetle drive to Ruth Palmer at a fund raising evening for the Cystic Fibrosis Society. The event, at the Phoenix Club, was a celebration of Tamla Motown and Northern Soul music and included pie n peas. The group panels were explained and vacancies now existed for volunteer facilitators. A review of the assembly’s recent progress was made. There was discussion on a new government scheme that would allow members of the public to work alongside police officers on community policing matters such as using traffic speed guns. The next Assembly will be at Ulley Parish Hall.
