CANKLOW WOODS PRIMARY SCHOOL: February 22 was Founders Day and to celebrate all pupils who attend Rainbows, Cubs, Brownies or Scouts were invited to wear their uniforms to school. Y5 children recently attended Brinsworth Academy to take part in a design day. Pupils were set challenging tasks to solve and were also able to mix with youngsters from other primary schools. These children have received special mention in assembly for their work and behaviour – Y1: Lawand Ahmed, Emie Myers, Olivia Connell, Amira Kassim, Hayley Burke, Makenna Atter, Exaucee Bokwala; Y2: Kyle Thompson, Joshua Bell, Troy Sheppard; Y3: Maksims Semjonovs, Madsion Longden, Katie Wheeler; Y4: Robyn Haddrell, Siana Hayden, Corey Saunders; Y5: Logan Moore, Ahmed Kassim, Samuel Stribley; Y6: Vicki Petrova, Natasha Dhlamini, Daveena Atter, Connor Bowland. Class 1 recently won best attendance.

 

BRINSWORTH WHITEHILL PRIMARY: The school now has a new website www.brinsworthwhitehill.org which is being updated with photos, letters, policies and other useful information pertaining to the school. Meetings have recently been held with information on the Y2 SATS tests. Pupils have also taken part in a design event at Brinsworth Academy.

BRINSWORTH MANOR INFANT AND NURSERY SCHOOL: Teacher Mrs Bamforth is going on maternity leave at the beginning of July. A Crazy Science Club is being run at school and looks to be popular with many children applying to do it. Staff have been donating Easter eggs ready for the annual Easter egg raffle. There will be three winners from each class. Tickets will be sold every morning from March 7. On April 15 the Happy Puzzle Company will be in school doing maths puzzles and activities for children in reception, Y1 and Y2.

 

BRINSWORTH MANOR JUNIOR SCHOOL: World Thinking Day on February 22 was celebrated by marking the international friendship and issues affecting all women and girls. Some pupils who attend Girl Guides wore their Guides uniform to school and took part in a special school assembly to discuss the meaning of the day. Miss Guest’s class won best attendance and the Green Team won the most team points and will win either a creative workshop or sporting activity afternoon. Y6 coaching sessions are underway to help prepare children for the new KS2 tests and to develop youngsters’ confidence for secondary school. 

 

BRINSWORTH COMMUNITY HALL AND PAVILION: A number of activities and events take place weekly including dancing, friendship groups, karate and drama classes. Contact the parish office 01709 354199.
