BRAITHWELL YORKSHIRE COUNTRYWOMEN’S ASSOCIATION: The September meeting of YCA had a talk by Val Oxley on the History of Firbeck Hall from the journals of Amelia Staniforth. The VE celebration coffee morning held at the Ruddle Centre saw the hall decorated in red, white and blue. £351 was raised. The 2016 programme has been finalised and includes: Something to Smile About with Wayne Ashton, Mary Queen of Scots – the Captive Queen, The Woman who Didn’t Exist ( a mystery) and a party night. October 28 – WR Autumn lunch at Long Marston, Wetherby. November  10 – AGM, Ruddle Centre. November 12 – walking group to Wickersley, contact Dorothy Roe 01709 541097. December 4 – carol service, St Michaels the Belfry, York. December 10 – Christmas lunch, Mansion House, Doncaster. December 16 –  WR carol service/ lunch at Methodist Church, Tickhill. The November meeting is the AGM at the Ruddle Centre on November 10 7.30pm and the competition is An Old British Coin.
