War of the Roses talk

AN EXPERT will shed light on the Wars of the Roses with an illustrated history talk Saturday (9)

Member Tony Dodsworth said: “The recent discovery of the skeleton of King Richard III and his re-burial in Leicester has brought medieval history into our lives in a very direct way, but it may all seem rather confusing.

Eric has appeared in history programmes on the television with Michael Wood and Tony Robinson from Time Team.

“He is coming to Rawmarsh to talk about the Wars of the Roses and provide the historical background necessary to understand what the wars were all about and how the enmity between the Plantagenets and the Tudors led to King Richard’s bloody demise.”

The talk is at the High Street Centre from 2.30pm to 4pm. Entry is £2 (members £1) and refreshments will be served.
