Volunteers needed for Rotherham Foodbank collection

The charity, which hands out food parcels to dozens of cash-strapped families every week, is inviting shoppers at Tesco in Wath and Rotherham town centre to make a donation in-store on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6.

But volunteer Jane McDonnell said they need more people to help out because they will be collecting contributions in two places at the same time.

She said: “We are looking for volunteers who will help us.

“This will involve being in a team in one of these stores for a two-hour period between 9am and 5pm, providing shoppers with information about the type of food we need and also receiving any food that is donated.”
