Tree-mendous way to thank hospital

A FAMILY is recycling Christmas trees for donations to the hospital which saved their young son from leukaemia.

Parents Andy Powell and Michelle Emerson are offering to collect them from Rotherham, Chesterfield and Sheffield for at least £12.

The cash will go to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, which treated son William (6) when he was diagnosed in 2011.

Andy said: “William is doing brilliantly now. He has just had his favourite Christmas ever as he got a new bike.

“We want to give something back to continue to support an amazing institution staffed by even more amazing doctors, nurses, surgeons, play specialists and volunteers.”

Gemma Bower, community fundraiser at The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “This is an incredibly innovative fundraising idea.

Money raised from previous years has helped buy lifesaving cell salvage machines for our theatres department.”

Visit www.christmastreecollections.co.uk to book. Trees will be collected between January 8 and 12.
