Tonnes of tinsel, millions of gifts: Meadowhall's Christmas in numbers

MEADOWHALL shoppers have already munched their way through a staggering 532,000 mince pies during the run-up to Christmas.

And they’ve bought eight tonnes of tinsel and three million presents according to the mall’s bosses.

More than 15,000 children have visited the centre’s Snowflake Hollow Christmas Grotto and the centre has been decorated with more than six miles of crystal garland, 21,000 baubles and 875,000 individual bulbs.

Meadowhall announced an eight per cent increase in footfall at the end of November and centre director Darren Pearce puts the increase down to big-name stores like Urban Outfitters, Cath Kidston, Armani Exchange, Lego and Carluccio's which have been introduced over the last year.
