It will offer the opportunity to develop performance skills in Cast’s theatre spaces.

The Youth Theatre will launch in January but there will be workshops in the coming weeks to give a taster of what will be on offer.

Initially there will be three Youth Theatre groups — Little Lights for eight to 11 year olds, Spotlights for 11-14 year olds and Flood Lights for 14-16 year olds.

The workshops will run on Wednesday November 30 and Wednesday December 14 (11-14 year olds) and Saturday December 10 (eight-11 year olds and 14-16 year olds).

Tickets for the taster sessions are free but places need to be reserved through the box office on 01302 303959 or online at castindoncaster.com.

Cast’s head of participation Sarah Clough will be leading the project.

She said: “It’s a great opportunity for young people to meet new people from different backgrounds, broaden their horizons and grow in confidence.

“We’re opening this Youth Theatre up to everyone and aim to provide a really positive, enjoyable and rewarding arts experience for our local children and young people.”
