Take part in Tour de Dearne

HUNDREDS of youngsters are expected to take part in this year’s Tour de Dearne walking and cycling event which is set to take place next month (June).

The 3.8 mile event will kick off at Dearne ALC in Goldthorpe and finish in Phoenix Park in Thurnscoe on June 7.

The Tour de Dearne event has been organised by Dearne and District Football Club and deputy chairman Jonathan Dixon says that hundreds of youngsters are expected to sign up.

He said the Tour de Dearne will start at 10am and cover 3.8 miles, finishing with a party in the park at Phoenix Park.

Mr Dixon said that children from two local schools have already signed up and he hopes other schools will get involved too.

The event has been organised in conjunction with Big Local and will take participants on a tour of Goldthorpe and Thurnscoe.

Mr Dixon said that participants will be carrying buckets to raise cash for their schools and Dearne and District Football Club.

To register on the day participants need to arrive at the starting point from 8.30am to 9am.
