Suffragette tribute at Rotherham Rise open day

ROTHERHAM Rise’s HQ will be lit up in suffragette colours tomorrow night as the charity continues its 40th anniversary celebrations tomorrow with an open day.

Rotherham African drummers and Rotherham Red Choir will perform and vintage teas will be served during the event at Rise’s women’s centre on Main Street.

Green, white and purple were the colours of the Women's Social and Political Union, led by Emmeline Pankhurst.

The event begins at 10.30am — with the choir set to perform at 11am — and goes on until 7pm.

Everyone is welcome.
