Star swimmer to join Minster celebrations

GUIDED tours of Rotherham Minster and the chance to meet Commonwealth Games swimmer Rebecca Turner are part of centenary celebration events this weekend.

The Diocese of Sheffield, which oversees the Minster and Rotherham’s other Anglican churches, is also opening up the Chapel on the Bridge from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and 2pm to 4pm on Sunday.

A series of services and events will be held at the Minster on Sunday.

These include a harvest thanksgiving at 10.30am and a Songs of Praise service at 4pm led by Bishop of Sheffield Steven Croft.

There will also be guided tours of of the Minster from 2pm to 4pm, an exhibition about Thomas Rotherham, a centenary beer sale and a meet-and-greet with star swimmer Rebecca.

Visitors are invited to bring a Picnic to eat in the Minster or the Minster grounds. Tea & Coffee will be on sale.
