The initiative aims to provide support and opportunities for young people, families and older people over the next five years.

It was launched last Tuesday with a morning of activities at the Chislett Centre, with the Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Maggie Clark, formally kicking the project off.

Representatives from Rotherham children’s centres, local art and creative writing groups, Rotherham Citizens Advice, Rotherham Borough Council’s Adult Learning team, the WEA, walking groups, Active Rotherham, alcohol programme the Lifeline Project and repairs firm Mears Morrison all provided activities and information stalls and went along to offer support.

Activities included crafts, hedgehog house making, Boccia and a “community tree” celebrating good neighbour stories.
