Pensioners campaign group seeks new members

A GROUP which fights for the rights of older people across the borough is appealing for new members.

Rotherham Pensioners Action Group has been involved in various campaigns and played a role in the national introduction of free bus travel.

RPAG chairman Keith Billington said: “We are hoping to increase our membership, as there is definitely a need for organisations to speak up for the older generation and the National Pensioners Convention, to which we are affiliated, certainly does that.

“So we put out an open invitation to all mature adults... Come and join us.”

The next monthly meeting takes place in the community room at Tesco in Rotherham town centre next Tuesday from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Keith said: “Our speaker will be Cllr Sue Ellis, who will talk us through life as a borough councillor. She has been a councillor for many years and is very knowledgeable on the subject.”
